Colin,

My favourite diptych out of the four is definitely the dog. I was pretty much drawn to it when I first saw it, probably because of how perfect the colours are matched up. It just struck me as a great diptych because you were able to match up two completely different things.

I also really liked the bottom one because of the form, and how you deliberately had a different coloured sunflower seed (?) [I'm only assuming it's sunflower seeds cause I saw it in the lab]as there was a different coloured book among the stack. That was great detail.

Colin, I love the play with circles in the first diptych. I'd like to know what kind of material you used to make it.. it looks like some form of liquid to me. Also in the first one there is a lot going on with a light/dark comparison. Your scanned image is completely black and white, while in the picture of the highway there is clearly a lighted side, and then a shadowed side. Again, the shadow made by the orange cone creates an elongated circle.
I was also drawn to the dog one, but I really liked the chain/ocean one too. The way that the waves smash into eachother is beautifully complimented by the links in your chain. I also feel as though the boeys help frame out the image because the waves seem to stop after them. My eye is also drawn to the color of the chain, which is repeated in the boeys as well. Lastly, the texture of the waves helped to bring out the shape of the chain links. Very nice job overall Colin.
